The News from Loddon Valley Lions 2023

New President takes over the reigns

P1040618On 8th July 2023, the latest in a long line of Presidents of Loddon Valley Lions was installed, during a Garden Party held at the incoming President's home. The event was an opportunity to say thankyou to outgoing President Jane Saunders for a fantastic year at the helm and to welcome in new President John Goodchild and Vice President Geoff Foan. Jane presented a number of Certificates of Appreciation to those who had been of special value to the Club during her year, before handing over the Presidential Chain of Office to incoming President John. John then presented Jane with her Past President Pin and Medal and also with a set of solar powered garden lights. As Jane's husband David had provided superb support to the Club during the year and was cited as 'the best Lion the Club had never had', he was also presented with a personal gift from John, which we hope he didn't drink all at the same time!

Tadley Treacle Fair 2023

Jezz Avery Stunt ShowLoddon Valley Lions held their 2023 Tadley Treacle Fair on Sunday 4th June. The event was blessed with superb weather and in addition to some spectacular arena events, there were also a large Craft Marquee, Trade and Charity stands and more. Children were delighted by demonstrations of Circus Skills, in which they were invited to participate and this also included Face painting. The arena events included displays by local group Dance Phaze, Matt Fiddes Martial Arts group and a wonderful concert from Ashford Hill School Choir. However, the undoubted star of the show was Jezz Avery, performing almost unbelievable stunts in his buggies. The ice cream vans, beer tent and Loddon Valley Lions tea tent were kept very busy during the day and the Loddon Valley Lions Tombola was completely sold out by about 2:30pm. Local charitable groups and other organisations were invited along to raise an awareness of their activities and also given the opportunity to raise funds for their own causes. Loddon Valley Lions thank all those who contributed to the success of the day, including of course, the public for their support which in turn will greatly enhance our ability to serve and support the less fortunate in our local community.
